Play Groups:
Our play group method matches your dog to the best doggie friends, so each dogs gets the ideal day care experience!
First, we divide our space—indoors and outdoors. Next, we keep group sizes small. Last, we group them according to three basic guidelines to assess your dog’s physical and mental abilities:
Size Physical Ability Mental Ability
Size: There are small dogs with BIG attitudes and large dogs that are shy and timid, so size alone does not always determine the best friend group for your dog. Grouping small dogs together usually works well, but we use our divided space to introduce dogs of all sizes to each other, and often the best friends are unexpected surprises!
Physical Ability:
You may have a golfing buddy and you may also have a friend who likes to just hang out. Dogs are just the same! They have running buddies, play tag buddies, or pup friends who just hang around together enjoying chew bones. Your dog’s level of agility and physical ability can help predict the best dog play groups. Our staff observes your dog’s behavior to aid in pairing dogs in their groups. Each group plays according to their ability and compatibility, so no dog is overwhelmed or over-powered.
The Mental Connection—Preferences and Attitudes:
Dogs know what they like…..they make us smile with their expressions and their spirit. There are confident dogs that want to push their weight around and then there are shy, timid pups, unfamiliar with other dogs, because they spend most of their home time alone or with their human parents. That’s why we ease each dog into their groups by introducing them one at a time. Some dogs must learn how to play well with others, and this learning creates a better adjusted, happy dog for you.
Special Care for Special Canines…
Some dogs come with special medical issues and they are welcome too! Arthritis or hip problems are common in some breeds or aging dogs, but there’s no need to worry about injury or over-stimulation. Our staff observes each dog carefully, adjusting activity as needed. We constantly monitor them and move dogs to slower groups if some become weary during the course of the day, or to resting areas for breaks. That’s the beauty of our divided space system! And it works for you and your dog.
